What is Safecurity?
Safecurity is a blended term combining safety and security — it represents a harmonized approach to protecting people, the environment, and nuclear infrastructure by integrating both domains.

Rather than treating safety and security as separate pillars, safecurity advocates for their combined and balanced implementation, ensuring neither is compromised — particularly in design, operation, emergency preparedness, and culture.

Why it matters:
 ✔️ Enhances resilience of nuclear and radiation facilities
 ✔️ Supports regulatory synergy
 ✔️ Prevents resource conflicts and redundancy
 ✔️ Aligns with initiatives like the IAEA’s SMR harmonization efforts
 ✔️ Offers a practical path to sustainable, secure energy solutions

This concept is especially timely as the global nuclear sector seeks to scale up safely while navigating evolving threats. I believe safecurity could serve as a guiding framework in this critical transition.
